According to Buddhist philosophy each color has its meaning in close connection with the elements.
The prayer flags are printed on fabric in five colors: yellow for the earth: green for water, red for fire, white for infinite space and blue for air and sky, are placed in this order and grouped in multiples of five.
The mantras and the sacred images imprinted on them are a wish for inner serenity and peace. When the wind blows through them, according to Tibetan tradition, these auspicious mantras and protection symbols spread in all directions .
